Hi,
I have an old Case 1835B skidsteer. The problem is it won't govern properly. It runs perfectly for about half an hour. Then, when the hand throttle is set and the machine is turned on, the electric shutoff seems to rev to full power. It revs high, but when pulled back, the fuel and the governor are not working as expected. I've pulled the fuel pump apart but couldn't find any obvious issues. It uses a Stanadyne DB2 fuel pump. I checked the solid weight retainer and the flex ring but nothing appears to be wrong. I'm left scratching my head as to what might be the issue. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Terry.

Sounds like you might have an issue with the fuel shutoff solenoid. I've seen similar issues with these skidsteers where the solenoid doesn't actuate properly after warming up. It's worth a shot!

Check the governor linkage for any signs of wear or binding. Sometimes it can be something simple like a loose connection or worn-out part.

It could be a problem with the injector pump. If the internals are worn out, it might be causing the erratic behavior you're seeing.

Double-check the fuel system for any air leaks. These can sometimes cause the symptoms you've described, especially when the machinery is under heavy load.

Try looking into the hydraulic system, too. Sometimes issues with hydraulics can have a ripple effect on the engine performance in these older machines.
