I have a CAT 236 2003 model skidsteer with 750 hours on it. I'm the original owner/operator. This past week I lost all my hydraulic functions. What does this mean? My loader told me it's a common problem with the coupling between the engine and pump. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it known to fail? Has anyone tried changing it? Any tips before I make the call?

I've had this issue before with a similar model. It's usually the coupling. Replacing it is straightforward if you have some mechanical knowledge.

Common problem with these older models. The coupling can fail after significant use. Make sure to check the entire hydraulic system.

Yes, had a couple of these in the shop recently with the same problem. It's usually the coupling. Not a hard fix, but make sure to get OEM parts.

I recommend checking the service manual. It gives a step-by-step on how to replace the coupling. It’s a known issue and relatively simple to address.
