Hello everyone, I bought a Caterpillar/Towmotor 510P forklift which has a Continental gas engine. The engine runs well, but the water pump is leaking. This shouldn't be big or difficult to fix. It drives, but there's an issue with the clutch. The lever linked to the clutch pedal can be pushed to the bottom, but then it stops. It looks like the clutch is set to work normally, but it doesn't. I believe it's an open wet clutch that spins in oil, and I'm curious if this type of forklift has a hydraulic or semi-automatic clutch. Does anyone have a copy of the parts book or know how this part works?

Hi Arj, I had a similar issue with my 510P. The clutch lever you're describing does indeed sound like it's for an open wet clutch system. Make sure the oil level is adequate and that there's no debris causing an obstruction.

Hey Arj, I've worked with this model before. The clutch mechanism might require some adjustment, especially check the linkage components for any wear and tear. Sometimes replacing a few small parts can make a big difference.

Arj, you might want to check the clutch disengagement bearing as well. These can sometimes fail and cause the symptoms you're describing.

I've got some old manuals that have schematics for the 510P. If you need specific parts diagrams, feel free to shoot me a message.
