I assume you have checked the F10 - Air Conditioner and Heater 20 Amp Fuse
Honestly no idea where it is. This is my first experience with a skid steer. I am very green with the machine. Have no idea where the fuses are. You have to forgive my ignorance. Just was hoping for a starting place! Boss might not have the manual for it.
Sounds like the radiator is probably plugged if it's a liquid heater.
Not sure if it is liquid or not. One of the main questions I have. My boss is cheap and hasn't sent it to be repaired that I know of. I've been there since May. I looked for obvious issues. None I can see. I see some cables going from the engine compartment to the cab, might be heater hoses or electrical lines. Here are some pictures I took to show my dad the machine.
It could be hydraulic or coolant heated, but more likely coolant. Look for hoses running out of the heater unit. Many machines have a coolant shutoff valve where the heater hoses connect to the engine. Someone may have switched it off in the summer and never turned it back on.
Thank you MrGiggles!! That is great help! Would sure help me in this thing. Last Friday was -8°F and it just sucked the heat right through my gloves!
Well, I checked today for shut-offs, none found. Used it for 45 minutes. I checked the heater hoses for temp - both cold right by the engine. Must be the thermostat. Boss won't fix it, I bet! 🤔
That machine does have a temperature control in the heater hoses, if it is unplugged or stuck you will get no heat at all inside but the engine will hold temp fine. Look for a small block in-line on one hose, check for voltage, and if present the block can be bypassed with a piece of tubing to get heat going until the valve can be replaced. A couple of pairs of vice grip pliers and you don't even have to drain any coolant. Hope this helps, being cold sucks 😯
Daryl1 thanks! I looked quickly today but did not see that. It's possible I missed it. I'll look again.
Rscurtis, not the first to tell me that. I am good with most mechanical things. I have been watching the temp gauge on the machine. It warms up fairly fast for diesel. Do you think it has a bleeder under the covers? I am limited on what I am permitted to do. If it were mine, I would have torn into it by now!
Eric,
Any updates on the heater problem? With the additional snow and bitter cold we've been having, I don't think anyone would be happy to use that bugger. Hope your boss has given you time to root out the problem.

Hi Mike, nothing I can do! Was not allowed to look too much further. Used it yesterday with hand warmers in gloves. Thank God was only in it a little while.
I went to the JD dealer for other needs and asked the friendly ladies what the cut sheet had on the heater system. Did not see any.
My guess is AT340945 Air Heater Controller is the issue...you should find it on the hose just before the heater core in the box in the cab.
