Danners have been great but I have noticed the quality decline on some models. I am sure they have started outsourcing to china too.
I wear Danner Stryker's every day.. Love them. Won't even look at another boot! Having said that, they are not steel toe.
Some of the Danner boots are still made in Portland, some are outsourced to china. I had a pair of china danners, wasn't impressed, they leaked after 4 months. Got credit for them and bought a pair of Danner rainforest boots, they have been great.
I wore a pair out in less than a year. the new vibram sole that they had was not very tough. I was on steep rocky terrain and it chewed the lugs right off. Leather is still ok but they leak from the sole up. Won't be getting another pair.
I worked with a guy who liked Danner, but also said he thought the quality started to go downhill. A little suprised on the White's. Did you get a custom pair? Have you tried Wescos? I've had good luck with the American made Chippewas. I guess they just came out with a boot that looks like the american logger, but doesn't have the logger sole it's got a vibram flat style sole. cheaper too. gonna give em a try one day prolly.

Inner togunes were paper thin and wore through real fast too. If these Danners don't cut it I may go back to the Red Dawgs
The red dawg ltt are a pretty decent boot imo

I wear Danners for hunting and working. I have a 300.00 pair for hunting in perfect shape, they leak. Contacted company and over 1 year old sorry was all they would do. Even sent pic of soles to show they are in perfect shape.
I've had a pair of steel toed Danner's for about three years. Had the factory rebuild them about a year ago and add quick lace eyelets to them. They have been a nice, high quality boot but they are a little tight across the front of my foot.Earlier this year I switched over to steel toed Keen boots (Detroit model). Unfortunately made in China but the quality seems very high.Hands down the most comfortable work boot that I've ever worn. Compared to my Danner's, their sole shape is a little bit wider where your toes intersect your main foot, and as I've aged it seems as if my foot has widened out a bit in this location. Very durable too; I just ordered a second pair so that I could alternate wearing them. Here on the farm I'm in my boots usually at least 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. Comfort has become a gating factor for me, along with quality and durability.
I have been wearing the Pronghorn by Danner for 6 or 7 years. They have changed some over the years but are still a great boots. I buy a pair in September to start the hunting season with and wear the old pair while running a chain saw. Same cycle next year.
Haix have been comfortable for me, but I don't wear them on a daily basis. Steel toe, cut resistant and waterproof. Very stiff to start, not uncomfortable, now one of my most comfortable boots.
I am on my second pair of the Danner Quarry/Logger boots and I like them. They hold up very well and are comfortable right out of the box.
