A few weeks ago I managed to pick up a small nail in the rear tire (turfs) of my 1023e. Since it was nice today I figured I would address this in case I need the tractor this winter. Pulled the tire and found the nail and marked it. Figured I would run it to one of the local tire shops to patch it. First place was unable to fit it in today so I decided to go elsewhere. Went to over half a dozen places and I was shocked that no one would touch it, either they claimed that they didn't have the equipment to do it, or they couldn't patch a "garden tractor" tire due to the shop rules. I don't understand why these shops wouldn't throw a patch in it. The hole was dead center of the tire, no sidewall. Seems easy enough to me. The last place suggested farm and fleet. I thought sure makes sense should have thought about that sooner. Get there and they say the same thing, that they aren't allowed to patch it but they can throw a tube in. Didn't really want to go that route but at this point I was rather irritated and wanted to get home now that it was dark out and the tractor was jacked up in the yard. Said sure get it done. Waited 3 hrs and they said it was done, after looking at it, I asked them why they put the new tube in with the nail still in the tire. I had the spot circled and mentioned it when I dropped it off. They didn't notice and 30 mins later they finished it for a second time. After wasting 5 hours of my day dealing with this nonsense, I am still shocked as to why no one could patch it? Any ideas? Anyone think the tube will be a problem? Sorry for the long post but what a nightmare, should have addressed this earlier in the day, I bet my dealer would have had no problem fixing it.
