Me Running a Cat 994D with 26 Yard Bucket

Actual Question

Top Replies

I had to change the teeth on the bucket of a 999 in the dead of winter. The bucket just fit through the door of the shop, and the operator got to inspect the roof of the shop while sitting in his seat. The door was only 16' high! He said that it was like driving a house.

Those teeth are huge, I bet one tooth weighs over 100 lbs.

Not 100 lb, but you don't want to throw them around all day. They're forged with a hollow to mate with the part that stays on the bucket. I forget whether it's one or 2 bolts that hold them in place on the wedge. That was a one time job for me 30 years ago during a slack period in the industry. Mechanically, they are easy to change . . . for Paul Bunyan.

They look pretty heavy, I wouldn't want to change even one of them, ha,ha.

I hear you! Unfortunately, it was in my job description.
